My name is Zahlia Hamer (aka Bellesaurus) and I am a budding cybersecurity enthusiast studying at Macquarie University and graduating in 2024.
My story
I have been in a customer service role for roughly 10+ years from working at markets with my parents to being an apprentice jeweller at a bespoke family jewellery business. I was also a Data Manager for almost 4 years where I started in Data Entry and worked my way up to managing a database as well as implementing technology solutions around the office. I had many factors impacting my decision to go into the technology sector including family, my growth in my previous job as a Data Manager as well as being part of the computing society at Macquarie University.
My current endeavours include my presidency at the Macquarie Association of Computing Students (MACS), working in the Outreach Team at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, being a Computing Drop-In Centre Tutor as well as competing in multiple Capture the Flag challenges with the Women in Cyber team and the MQCybersec team at Macquarie University.
